Mrs. Nyght earned her BSN from the University of Kansas in 1977. She then spent a number of years working in critical care and family practice. While living in Atchison, Kansas, Mrs. Nyght taught in an LPN–bridge to RN program at NEKA Vocational School and Benedictine College. In 1991 she received a Master’s Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University. Mrs. Nyght graduated from the University of Kansas in 1993 with an MS in Nurse Anesthesia and has since worked in several Kansas City area hospitals as a staff CRNA. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies through the University of Kansas School of Nursing.

Mrs. Nyght is the Director of Clinical Affairs. In this capacity, she directly works with students in the clinical setting as well as supervising the overall clinical education of the student nurse anesthetists. Mrs. Nyght coordinates affiliate rotations and the students' schedules at KUMC. In addition, she conducts on-site visits at all clinical affiliates according to COA standards and communicates frequently with physician and CRNA liaisons. With other clinical faculty, Mrs. Nyght serves as a student advisor and as a chair or committee member for Capstone projects.
