OUR FACULTY
Carol Elliott, CRNA, MPA, PhD

Assistant Professor
- Dr. Elliott received her basic nursing education at Penn Valley College, Kansas
City, Missouri. Her initial certification in nurse anesthesia was obtained
from
the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts in
Health Administration from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, and a Masters
in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. She earned her PhD from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas.
- Dr. Elliott has served nurse anesthesia students for many years in the roles
of Department Chair and as an academic/clinical instructor. She has written numerous
grants to secure funding for technology assuring that the education experience
at the University of Kansas is second to none.
- Dr. Elliott served 21 years in the United States Air Force Reserves Nurse Corps
rising to the rank of Colonel. She was a combat flight nurse for 15 years assigned
to the 36 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, Missouri.
She also held the position of Chief Nurse with the 442 Medical Squadron, Whiteman
Air Force Base, Missouri prior to retirement in 1999.
- An active researcher, Dr. Elliott has interests in the following areas:
Anesthesia and the AIDS Patient, Stigmatic Grief, the Up Regulation of Nicotinic
Receptor Sites in Thermal Injuries, and Distance Education.
